MacRitchie Reservoir Park
Singapore isn't just about shopping and towering concrete jungles; it also boasts a beautiful national park waiting to be explored, and my favorite is
MacRitchie Reservoir Park.
This national park is one of Singapore's most beloved natural attractions, offering a serene escape into lush greenery, an opportunity to experience the city's commitment to preserving nature, and an encounter with wild animals.
Built-in 1868, MacRitchie Reservoir is the oldest reservoir in Singapore, playing a vital role in the city's water supply system. The park is home to diverse flora and fauna, including long-tailed macaques, monitor lizards, monkeys, otters and various bird species.
The park's highlight is the TreeTop Walk, a 250-meter suspension bridge offering a bird' s-eye view of the forest canopy. It provides a unique perspective of the park’s ecosystem and is a favorite among hikers. The park features well-maintained trails around an 11-kilometer loop of varying lengths and difficulty, perfect for hiking, running, or leisurely walks. Along the trails, educational signboards provide insights into the park’s history, biodiversity, and importance to Singapore’s water system.
There are some waters sports , such as as kayaking and canoeing on the calm reservoir waters, and also picnic spots and scenic viewpoints for quiet reflection or relaxation.
MacRitchie Reservoir Park is a must-visit for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and anyone looking to connect with nature in Singapore’s vibrant cityscape.
